Gates is currently living and training with his handlers at Fluvanna Women's Correctional Center.<br/><br/>Through a partnership with the Virginia Department of Corrections, Pixie's Pen Pals (a program of FETCH a Cure) places homeless dogs in the care of incarcerated people for dedicated, individualized training and socialization guided by canine behavior specialists.<br/><br/>The bio below was provided by his handlers at Fluvanna Correctional:<br/><br/>I am a 2 1/2 year-old lab/terrier mix. I love to play with my best dawg, Nala. I also enjoy playing fetch and tug, and love all of my squeaky toys. There is nothing better to me than to be loved on, snuggled with, and rubbed all day long. I enjoy off-leash walks just as much as I enjoy laying in the shade watching everything around me.<br/><br/>I am a very outgoing, friendly, happy, and energetic boy. They tell me I'm also very smart, learning new things quickly, and I have an impressive list of obedience skills under my belt.<br/><br/>I would be an amazing addition to some lucky family and am so ready for my forever home. My handlers think Id be great around children too.
