Gary's Story
Gary: 8 Pounds of Bad Decisions

Let's not waste each other's time.

If you're looking for a sweet little Chihuahua who loves everyone he meets, Gary would like to respectfully suggest that you keep scrolling.

If Chihuahuas are generally considered spicy, Gary is a ghost pepper dipped in hot sauce and launched directly into your face.

At 8 years old and 8 pounds, Gary has somehow managed to pack the attitude of a drunken bar brawler into a body roughly the size of a loaf of bread.

What You Should Know
Gary bites. Not occasionally. Not "when startled." Not "only if you touch his feet."

Gary firmly believes that strangers are suspicious and should be treated accordingly.

Your first few weeks together may involve a healthy respect for personal space, strategic treat deployment, and what some experts would describe as "a surprising amount of protective equipment."

Welding gloves aren't required, but Gary would like them to remain an option.

Why Is He Like This?
Life has been a little rough.

After losing his person, Gary bounced around between homes before landing in rescue. Somewhere along the way, he developed the very reasonable opinion that most humans are idiots and should earn his trust.

And honestly? He's not entirely wrong.

The Plot Twist
Once Gary decides you're his person, everything changes.

The tiny terrorist becomes a tiny shadow.

The angry potato becomes a devoted companion.

The dog who was previously plotting your demise suddenly wants to follow you everywhere, sleep in your bed, stare lovingly into your eyes, and spend every waking moment making sure you don't disappear.

Gary doesn't make friends. Gary acquires hostages. And once you're chosen, you're chosen for life.

Hobbies Include:
Professional sunbathing

Extortion for cheese

Sleeping in the big bed like he pays the mortgage

Following his chosen human from room to room

Performing dramatic zoomies that suggest he has briefly been possessed

Judging everyone

Other Important Information
Young children should absolutely not apply.
Random visitors should not assume they're welcome.
Your veterinarian should know what a muzzle is.
Picking him up without permission is an excellent way to learn about FAFO.
He gets along fine with other dogs because unlike humans, dogs generally mind their own business.

Health Stuff
Gary has a luxating patella, a heart murmur, and a history of possible seizures.

He takes Fluoxetine for anxiety and Keppra daily.

Combined cost: less than $25 per month.

Despite his medical chart and emotional instability, he remains fully committed to living his best life.

Gary's Ideal Home
A calm home. A patient human. A sunny window. An unlimited cheese budget. Someone who understands that trust is earned, not demanded. Someone who sees past the teeth and realizes there's actually a deeply loyal little dog underneath all the threats.

Final Warning
Gary is not for everyone. In fact, Gary is probably not for most people.

But if you've ever looked at an angry Chihuahua and thought, "I can fix him," Gary would like to inform you that you absolutely cannot.

What you can do is earn his trust, join his extremely exclusive inner circle, and gain a fiercely devoted best friend who would gladly throw himself into battle for you.

After first yelling at you for existing.

Apply only if you have patience, a sense of humor, and adequate health insurance for your hands.

Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog.
