Garland's Story

Meet Garland!

Garland is a 2-year-old love bug who might just be the best cuddler you've ever met. He has a beautiful balance of energy and is so happy to head out for walks and outdoor adventures, and equally happy to come home and nap. We are not sure what his breed mix is but he has the look of a little Schnauzer.

He can be cautious with new people at first, but don't let that fool you. He warms up quickly. Once he decides that he loves you, get ready for kisses. Garland has also been around young children and handled it well, after his initial "who are you?" bark.

Walks are Garland's favorite, but he has some leash frustration around other dogs: he desperately wants to say hi and get all their information, but his excitement is bigger than he can manage in the moment. He is making real progress with support from SGA's trainer!

His ideal home would be with someone who works from home (he will curl on your lap or nearby). He has separation anxiety, but will likely settle in with some positive training. Due to his separation anxiety he is not suitable for an apartment. He barks when left alone and this will cause noise complaints. He can learn to spend more time alone but this takes time and gentle training.

He'll do well with someone willing to keep up the work so he can continue building confidence and calm. He's actually done great meeting dogs one-on-one and would likely do well living with another dog. He's not a big player, but he loves having a canine companion nearby. Older kids are best for him since he can be a little bit nervous with people who approach him quickly.

He's not a complicated dog. He just has big feelings and needs a consistent home that will help him grow. In return, you get an incredibly sweet, affectionate companion who will absolutely curl up with you and steal your heart.

Garland is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $450

We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495. Thank you for stepping up to save a life!

To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon!
