Garcia's Story

Hi. I’m Garcia- Retired Monk • Gentle Soul • Professional Good Boy
Hello, friend. It’s me. Garcia, 3ish years young I’d say 27lbs give or take hopefully give haha Some say I look like a mix between Mr. Magoo and a tiny enlightened monk who has seen some things, found inner peace, and now just wants snacks, naps, and forehead kisses. I have one eye now (long story), but my remaining eye is extra gentle and sees only love, snacks, and good vibes. I am calm. I am kind. I am soft in the soul. And I am ready for my forever chapter.
My Origin Story (AKA My Great Escape)
Once upon a not-so-fairytale, I was left behind in a yard in Compton when my family moved away. Deserted. Alone. With a huge tumor on my eyeball. A kind neighbor fed me but couldn’t take me in. Then Freedom Frenchie Rescue’s California team jumped into action, broke the lock on the gate, and saved me. A few days later, I made my way to Arizona and officially began my glow-up era. Plot twist: I am now thriving.
My Medical Glow-Up
That big scary tumor on my eye was removed and sent out for pathology. The results showed that it was a low grade uveal carcinoma, which is an exceedingly rare type of cancer. The entire tumor was successfully removed, and my prognosis is considered reasonably good. My vets were very glad we chose to remove the entire eye, as it ensured all of the cancer was eliminated. They recommend chest radiographs in 3–6 months just to check in and be extra safe.
I healed beautifully with no major swelling, no complications, and lots of grace. Now I rock a little pirate look and honestly... I pull it off. I take meds like a champ (pill in cheese is the trick), let you clean me, handle me, and do anything needed without fuss. Tough little guy. Soft big heart.
My Personality (Zen Edition)
I am super chill, gentle, and easygoing. I’m trusting, extremely adaptable, and I adjusted to home life fast. I mind my own business but I also enjoy polite socializing. I love other dogs, I’m great with cats, and I’m great with kids. If you have some turf or grass I will roll in it so hard and then streeetttcchhhh it out from some sunbathing excellence. I coexist beautifully, but I’ll happily join playtime when invited. Unless you introduce an exercise ball... then it’s pups gone wild. Oh yea I like a candle and epson salt when I take a bath it just helps me relax even more then I already am. I’m 420 ready, I guess that’s the best way to put it!

Potty Pro Status
I have not had a single accident. I go to the door when I need to go outside. I am consistent, reliable, and proud of myself. Potty Pro level: 10 gold medals.
My Quirks (Please Enjoy)
My milkshake brings all the pups to the yard. I have the cutest little booty strut when I walk or run. I do the best downward dog stretch you’ve ever seen. I stretch and sleep like I’m deep in meditation. I gently walk up and place my paws on your legs to request kisses. I roll over for belly rubs with nothing but a smile. Foster mom is convinced I was a monk in a past life. She is probably correct.
My Very Good Manners
I know my basic commands, take treats gently, and show zero resource guarding. I’m food motivated but extremely gentlemanly about it. I love affection, love being near my people, and love a good nap. Negative behaviors? None to report. Honestly, I may be the easiest foster ever.
Car Rides & Harley Dreams
I prefer the front passenger seat. Sometimes I try to drive. Sometimes I try to sit in your lap. Foster mom has strongly considered a helmet, goggles, and a front-facing pack because she believes I may be destined to be a Harley-riding dog. I cannot confirm or deny, but I look good in theory.
My Dream Home
I’m looking for a home that wants a calm, gentle companion. A home that appreciates a low-drama, loving soul dog. A couch buddy. A best friend. I don’t need chaos or intensity. I just need love a space to run and play.
Final Thoughts from Me
I’ve been through a lot. And I still choose kindness. I still choose trust. I still choose love. If you’re looking for a gentle, goofy, enlightened little pirate who will quietly change your life... Hi. I’m Garcia. And I’m ready.
Garcia is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. His adoption donation fee is $1100.00 and he is being fostered in Florence, AZ. You can apply for Garcia on our website freedomfrenchierescue.org.
*Please Note: All learning and guidance must continue in their new home. A dog’s behavior can change with a new environment and energy, and every family’s dynamic is different. What works or is allowed in one foster home may not be the same in yours, so consistency, patience, and continued training are key to their success.
