Gallina's Story
Gallina has one of the funniest and most unique names among our rescue dogs — and it comes with a story. When he was first found, Gallina was suffering from severe mange. His coat, which is a mix between medium and wire texture, had fallen out almost entirely. The few long, stiff hairs that remained stuck out like little feathers, making him look like a plucked chicken. That’s why he was named Gallina (Spanish for “hen”), a playful name that stuck and makes everyone smile.

Gallina was rescued by Karu Pet Rescue, and we at For Happy Tails are simply providing him with temporary foster care and helping to find his forever family. We often collaborate with other rescues in this way, offering foster homes and promoting dogs so we can save more lives together.

Now healthy, Gallina has blossomed into a vibrant, energetic, and confident boy. He loves to jump, play, and enjoys the company of both people and other dogs. With small- and medium-sized dogs, he’s outgoing, playful, and fearless. With very large dogs, however, he sometimes shows a bit of insecurity — keeping his distance or hiding until he feels safe.

Gallina hasn’t had close contact with cats yet, but he’s seen them from afar without reacting, so with proper introductions, it’s likely he’ll do well. He hasn’t had much experience living indoors, but before his adoption we’ll test him inside a home environment to ensure he understands house manners, like not tipping trash bins or marking territory.

After recovering fully from his skin condition and gaining back a healthy weight, Gallina is finally ready for the next step: his sterilization, which is already scheduled. Once neutered, he’ll be ready to officially meet his future family.

About Him
~ Name: Gallina (Spanish for “hen”)
~ Gender: Male
~ Rescue: Karu Pet Rescue (temporary foster with For Happy Tails)
~ Coat: Medium / wire mix, now recovered and healthy
~ Energetic, playful, and confident
~ Sweet and sociable with people and dogs
~ A bit insecure around very large dogs
~ No direct cat experience, but calm when seeing them from a distance
~ Healthy weight and fully recovered from mange
~ Sterilization scheduled soon

What’s Included with Adoption
When you adopt Gallina, you’ll receive:
~ Health certificate (if needed for travel)
~ ISO identification microchip
~ Internal deworming
~ External deworming (Nexgard, Simparica, Bravecto, or pipette)
~ Up-to-date vaccines
~ Rabies vaccine
~ Neutering (to be completed before adoption)
~ Adoption contract
~ Collar and leash

Adoption Fee
Gallina’s adoption fee is $250 USD, which helps cover his care and supports the continued rescue efforts of Karu Pet Rescue.

How to Adopt
If you’re ready to give Gallina the loving home he deserves, contact us via:
~ WhatsApp: +52 664 764 1811 (messages only)
~ Email: forhappytails.dogrescue@gmail.com

Help Us Spread Gallina’s Story
Share Gallina’s story with your friends and family.
