Gabriel's Story

Meet Gabriel! This handsome stud is about seven months old, weighs 48 pounds and is neutered. He is currently living in a foster home so please email us at pets@michianapets.org if you would like to adopt him!

Now, here is a note from his foster mom:

"Gabriel is very active! Looks like a shepherd, acts like a Border Collie. Needs a lot of exercise. He loves playing fetch with balls or frisbee, just starting to catch the frizz. He gives the toys up willingly after retrieving and bringing to me.

He is very vocal when excited! He just doesn't know what to do with his little self! Happy boy. Likes to chase the cat, Smokey, when Smokey runs past him, on purpose. He does not hurt Smokey when they stop running. Likes to lick Smokey as well, especially after I have applied coconut oil for his skin. Silly boy!

He is crate-trained and house-trained, and he does have access to a smaller area with a dog door. The area has a high fence and is tipped in at the top to ensure safety. Gabriel likes to chew as he is a youngster. Favorites are anything stuffed and harder plastic toys and he always has chew bone and toy options. Gabriel can be timid in new situations but has never shown anything but reserved love to anyone new. He would do best with another active dog! He loves to play!

He came to me a bit malnourished/underweight and with fear of many things including the dark outside. He is so much better and is not afraid of those things anymore. Needs leash work. Learning what find it, leave it, take, go outside, go house, dinner and sit mean. All dogs get fed in a specific order in their own spots and he understands that as well, as he is last.

Gabe is accustomed to child gates to block some rooms and has never jumped them."

Basically, Gabriel has a fantastic foundation for a young pup and is willing to learn whatever someone is willing to teach! He is so smart! An adopter who loves interacting with their dog would be perfect Gabriel. He is a tuned-in pup and we can see him succeeding because the is that awesome! Such a good boy!
