Frosty in LA - Adores Belly Rubs!'s Story
Meet Frosty, a gentle giant with a heart as pure as his name! This sweet Pyr boy has come such a long way from his difficult start—he was found wandering as a stray in Louisiana, suffering from a badly broken leg and weighing just 57 pounds, about half of what he should have been. But thanks to dedicated rescue efforts and wonderful foster care, Frosty has blossomed into the lovable, laid-back companion he was always meant to be! Now fully healed and thriving, this medium-energy boy is completely housebroken, leash trained, and crate trained. He knows basic commands like “sit” and “come,” and he's proven himself to be an absolute sweetheart in his foster home where he peacefully coexists with five cats and five other dogs of various sizes, both male and female. Frosty is a bit shy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly once he feels safe. He's not a digger and barks when he needs to go outside. This handsome boy enjoys lounging outside in cool weather, but is equally content relaxing indoors. He enjoys the occasional brushing session and absolutely melts for head scratches and belly rubs. True to his Pyr heritage, Frosty loves to act as your protector on walks, trying to herd you to keep you safe—it's completely endearing! His ideal home is a quiet, peaceful environment where he can continue his favorite activity: being wonderfully lazy! Frosty just wants to be your devoted companion and champion cuddler. He has an enormous capacity for love and snuggles. A 5-foot fence and people who love to dish out the rubs are the top things that this sweet boy needs to live his best life!

NYS Registered Rescue # RR102
NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you.

Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
