Frosty's Story
Its the perfect time to cool down with Frosty

He was surrendered to animal control looking like a swamp thing with some matted dreadlocks hanging over his face, but after a sedated trim (and neuter) we found a pretty cute little scruffy terrier mix under there. He was very scared in the shelter and didnt have the best behavior notes from his previous home- some food aggression, not always nice to all members of the family, and he wasnt cooperative for grooming. But he has warmed up pretty nicely, craves human attention and dances and smiles, and gets along well with other dogs. Hes 2 1/2 years old, under 15lbs and some kind of Maltese/yorkie/Jack Russell type we think- he does shed and doesnt have the type of hair that mats easily unless he was never touched or brushed. He wasnt a fan of the vet or being restrained but has been letting us pick him up and a pretty agreeable guy as long as you respect his space and limit. He has a lot of potential for someone who understands quirky little dogs and will treat him like a real dog and not a stuffed animal purse dog to dress up and fuss over too much. Too much smothering and hugging may cause him to melt
Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Frosty in Northern NJ

Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
