Frieda's Story

World, meet sweet baby Frieda!

Kids: Not sure yet
Dogs: Well Matched
Cats: Well Matched

This sweet little girl found herself loose in our community and was brought to a local doggy daycare/grooming business while we arranged to bring her into our care. We are so grateful to the kind people who helped keep her safe.

Frieda is approximately 5 months old and has been loving her time here at the shelter. She is a shy girl in new environments, but what stands out about Frieda is how badly she wants to be brave. With continued fear-free, positive reinforcement, reward-based training, we truly believe the sky is the limit for this little sweetheart.

Frieda is still very new to us, and we are continuing to learn about her personality. Based on what we have seen so far, we think she may do well in a home with a well-matched dog companion and possibly even a cat with the right introduction. Due to her fearful nature, we are currently looking for a home with older teens or adults only who can understand her needs and give her the time and patience she deserves.

Like all puppies, Frieda is looking for a family ready for all the puppy adventures ahead, including:
House training
Managing teething
Basic obedience training
Building confidence through positive experiences

Frieda has been dewormed, flea-treated, and vaccinated. We will wait until she is a little older and medically ready before completing her spay and microchip.

Friedas adoption fee is $400 plus tax.

If youre interested in adopting this little angel, the first step is to complete an adoption application. New Westminster Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AN ANIMAL, please submit an application form. This is the FIRST step in the adoption process. Please do NOT email us just to express interest. https://www.newwestcity.ca/services/animal-services/animal-shelter Our animals have unique personalities and needs. Our goal is to find the most suitable home for them and the most suitable pet for you. We make every effort to place animals in “forever” homes so they don’t find themselves back in a shelter. They’ve already lost their home once, and we don’t want them to go through that again. All applications are reviewed by two shelter staff members. We also conduct a phone interview, at which time we will address any questions or concerns you may have. Typically, we are able to inform applicants within 72 hours. If your application has been approved, we will then schedule a time for you to come pick up your new family member!
