Frida's Story

Frida is a sensitive and sweet Boston Terrier with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. Though naturally shy and timid, she warms up quickly to those who make her feel safe. Once that trust is built, she becomes a loyal and affectionate companion, happiest when snuggled close or following her people from room to room. She’s a classic velcro pup who finds great comfort in simply being near those she loves.

Frida’s days are filled with simple joys. She loves to nap in cozy spots, bask in the sun, and dive into her favorite pastime—emptying the toy bin. One by one, she’ll pull out every toy and pile them on the couch before carefully selecting her favorite, usually something fluffy that crinkles or a chew toy she can settle in with. Her quiet, thoughtful nature shines through in these small routines, and her foster family adores the quirky rituals that make her uniquely Frida.

While she may still be cautious in unfamiliar situations, Frida is no longer figuring out the basics of pet life—she knows what she likes and what makes her feel secure. She continues to grow in confidence, especially when paired with another calm, well-balanced dog. Having a furry sibling helps her feel more relaxed and encourages her to play, run zoomies, and try out new things. She is respectful of other dogs’ space and energy, but will often try to gently initiate play or follow their lead.

Frida has a special fondness for the outdoors. Whether she’s exploring the backyard or simply lounging in a sunny patch of grass, she takes it all in with quiet appreciation. Inside the home, she seeks out cozy spots near her people and loves nothing more than curling up for a good cuddle. She’s especially drawn to gentle, patient humans who allow her time to open up and show her loving personality.

Frida would do best in a quiet, low-traffic home—ideally not an apartment—as she can be sensitive to noise and unfamiliar sounds. A family where someone is home much of the day, or able to check in frequently, would be ideal to help her feel secure and ease her anxiety.

Because of her timid nature, Frida would thrive in a home with another confident dog and with children over the age of six who are calm, respectful, and dog-savvy. Even after settling into the routine of her foster home, Frida continued to show signs of anxiousness and is now on Prozac to help manage it. The addition of this medication has made a wonderful difference—she’s calmer, more adaptable to changes in routine, and increasingly willing to engage in play, enjoy car rides, and greet new people with curiosity rather than worry. Once she feels safe, Frida truly blossoms into a snuggly, affectionate little companion who just wants to be part of the family. As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must, and she should always be supervised to ensure everyone stays comfortable and safe.

If you’re looking for a tender-hearted, devoted little dog who will quietly steal your heart and become your shadow, Frida might be the one for you. With patience, love, and a gentle home, she’s ready to give that love right back tenfold.

Frida is 100% potty trained. She remains accident-free in her foster home; looking for the back door to sit at and whine when she needs to go outside. Her adoptive family will need to be willing and able to keep her on a regular and consistent schedule and find a signal for potty for her continued potty training success. Frida is very responsive when it is time to go “outside” and willingly does all of her business but requires a furry friend to be with her (she emulates their outside behavior). Her foster family reports she is nervous when called to go into her crate. Frida is trusted in a small dog safe room when her foster family happens to be away from the home. She tolerates her crate when in the same room as her foster family when it’s bedtime but she would much rather be with her people.. Frida would LOVE to share a bed with her adoptive for unlimited bedtime snuggles. For her safety, a similar crating arrangement is suggested when her humans are away from the home and/or when she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure.

Medically, Frida is in good health! She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, had a dental, and heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! She does have a mild-grade luxating patella that does not need surgical intervention. Her leg is to be monitored for any future issues. She recently underwent successful cherry eye surgery and remains on a joint supplement to support her luxating patella, which doesn’t slow her down.

Frida would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard due to her need to wander the yard while outside and her need to sun her cute little buns. She is not a great candidate for an apartment or shared-walled living. Frida will use her voice every now and again and that wouldn’t be ideal for close neighbors. Frida does great with stairs, but a limited number of stairs is best due to her luxating patella. She would do best in a quiet house with a family that is patient, and willing to help her overcome her shy nature and help her develop her sweetness into greatness! We also think Frida would do best in a home that has a part-time or full-time stay-at-home parent or a work-from-home parent. She finds comfort in being with her people and other furry creatures at all times. We don’t think she would be a great dog to take to the office due to her timid nature. Frida would be much happier sleeping the day away on the couch with her family nearby.

Frida is a beautiful girl who needs a home and understands she needs to be the queen of the couch! She is just in need of some patience, and direction, and this lovable girl will be forever a loyal friend to a family she can call her own!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Frida, please visit our website to submit an adoption application for her today!!
https://snafurescue.org/adopt/frida/
