Freddy's Story

Where do we start with Freddy? He's a miracle dog. The day we found him, we truly weren't sure he'd survive. But not only did he survive, he has thrived. Please read ALL information below and make a note of his medical in your application or in your email after applying.

Freddy's dream home is one where he can be held like a baby all day, allowed free roam on carpeted floors or with lots of rugs down, and with lots of dog beds available for him to relax throughout the house. He deserves slower-paced dog friends or to be a solo spoiled boy. He does like other dogs, but with his limited vision, he doesn't need a rambunctious sibling throwing him around. He enjoys the quieter life.

Freddy is estimated to be a 9-year-old Shih Tzu mix. He has a ruptured eye, is Heartworm positive (receiving slow kill treatment), and has IVDD. He was treated for IVDD at Texas A&M and is doing incredibly well, but he will need continued physical therapy likely for life. Freddy is able to walk around and potty on his own in grass, and he does not have common accidents. He will bark for attention or to let you know he needs to potty. We expect an adopter to start physical therapy at a vet (can continue with the one he has been going to if local to Houston area) and can move to at-home and/or other options as their vet sees fit. We are still considering enucleation (eye removal surgery) for his ruptured eye, along with a dental, now that he is doing well and can comfortably undergo anesthesia. So we are in no rush to find his adopters. But now that we know what he is capable of, we are ready to start looking. If you're interested in adopting Freddy, apply at caitiesfosterfam.org/adopt

Any questions? Email adopt@caitiesfosterfam.org after filling out the app as your first step!

Caitie's Foster Fam's Adoption Policy
• Potential adopters are required to submit an adoption application and be approved before they can physically meet a foster dog. All pets in the home must be up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered (medical exceptions must be communicated). We require an application, virtual home visit, personal/vet references, meet and greet, and $350 adoption fee. • Suitable applicants may be contacted for additional screening. • Once approved, meet and greets with the foster dog and foster parents will be scheduled with qualified applicants. • The adopter pays adoption fees and signs an adoption contract. Foster dogs cannot go to a potential adopter’s home until the fee and contract are received. Foster dog then goes to its new forever home.
