Fred's Story
Fred, Male | DOB: 03/22/2026 | ~5 lbs | Chihuahua/Yorkie/Terrier Mix | Kennewick, WA

Fred is a tiny little guy with a BIG personality! This adorable scruffy-faced boy is spunky, energetic, curious, and completely confident in his own skin. His ridiculously cute little scruffy muzzle is just the icing on the cake.

HISTORY
Fred came to us through an owner surrender on August 19, 2025. He is estimated to be a 5 month old Chihuahua/Yorkie terrier mix, with a DOB of March 2026.

He was gifted to an older lady, and he was just way too much for her to handle. Fred is a busy puppy, and we can see why she was overwhelmed, but he is doing amazing on a consistent routine in our care!

Fred is located in Tri-Cities, WA. We advertise our dogs in a variety of locations in an effort to improve their chances of finding great homes. We can assure you, this pup is well worth a road trip!

SOCIALIZATION
Fred loves the company of other pets, dogs and cats alike. In his intake foster home, his favorite playmate was the 1 year old cat. He enjoyed playing with the dogs in the home too, but the kitty entertained him the most.

Since moving to his current foster home, he has been doing amazing with the medium sized dog in their home (a poodle mix). Fred is working hard on getting the hang of his daily routine, and really enjoys playtime in the yard with his canine companion the most.

We believe that Fred will thrive in a home with another dog or two, who will engage in play time with him. He would enjoy an active lifestyle once his puppy shots are complete, and it is safe for him to get out into the world for walks and adventures.

In our care, Fred has lived with dogs, cats, men, women, and kids ages 4 and up.

GENERAL TEMPERAMENT AND BEHAVIOR
Fred is looking for an active family that is going to prioritize his training and socialization as he grows. He has a curious spark about him, and really wants to engage with others.

This little guy is a busy puppy, and enjoys knowing what's next. He would do best on a solid routine that is predictable and attainable to his age and training. He is moderate to high energy for a small dog, and would really do well with brain games, or taking a training course with his humans.

Fred does bark to alert, and gives happy whines when he's excited to exit his crate and sometimes during play. At first, he may have complaints about being in his crate, but he settles down quite easily, and then sleeps all night long. During the day, he can crate up to about 4 hours without needing a break.

TRAINING
In his foster home, Fred is working on crate training, potty training, recall and name recognition, and basic house and dog to dog manners. He responds very well when corrected by companion dogs or humans. Verbal corrections like CHT CHT are pretty successful.

Please remember, Fred is just a baby, he is young and eager to learn how to be a good family dog. He'd love you to take him to school so he can learn ALL the skills he needs to be his best self. This would be beneficial for you as his pet parent(s) as well so that you can learn to communicate effectively with him and teach him to be confident. He is still working on potty training.

It's important to remember: Fred is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! This little boy is just getting started - he has sharp nails and needle teeth and loves to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as he's concerned, anything and everything is for play. He still has everything to learn about being a civilized member of a mainly human family. He will trip you up, piddle on your rug, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt Fred unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise him right!

HEALTH STATUS
General info
He is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, sterilized, and dewormed. He appears to be in good health. Once full grown, he will likely be somewhere in the 8-13 lbs. range.

ADOPTION
The adoption fee for Fred is $425.
