Fred's Story

Ever seen a scruffy guy transform when someone finally shows him kindness?

Hi, I'm Fred! I used to wander the streets of Chicago all alone-just me against the world. When they found me, I was a tangled, matted mess. Nobody had taken care of me in who knows how long, and honestly, I'd learned that the world wasn't always a safe place.

But I'm working on that now. Every day, I'm learning that not all humans will let me down. It's a process, you know? I'm building trust one gentle interaction at a time. What helps? Walks! I absolutely love going on walks-they make me feel free and happy. And once I know you're one of the good ones, I turn into a total snuggle bug. There's nothing better than curling up close to my person after I've learned they're safe.

I also love playing with my stuffies. They're my treasures, and watching me toss them around, you'd never guess I spent so long just trying to survive.
Here's the thing though-I'd really prefer to be the only pet in the house. After everything I've been through, I need a home where I can have all the attention and patience to myself while I continue working on trusting this new life of mine.

If you're willing to give a guy like me a chance and help me finish my journey from scared stray to beloved companion, I promise I'll be worth the wait.
