If you sit down, he wants to be right beside you. If you go to bed, he wants to curl up next to you. If you're heading out on an adventure, he wants to know why he wasn't invited! His favorite place in the world is simply by your side.<br/><br/>He is playful and affectionate but not a "high-energy, constantly-on-the-go" kind of dog. At the same time, when it's time to explore, Franky has surprisingly impressive stamina and absolutely loves getting out and about. Long walks, jogs, and hikes are some of his favorite things. And when he's ready to play, he is always up for a good game of tug-of-war.<br/><br/>Franky's forever home:<br/><br/>Franky is looking for a very specific kind of home, and finding the right match is incredibly important for him.<br/><br/>Only dog! While Franky can be around other dogs and is generally uninterested in them, he does not want or need a canine companion. He is not a dog who should be adopted with the expectation that he will become another dog's best friend. He wants his person all to himself. and will do best as his family's one and only.<br/><br/>Cat-free! Franky is not good with cats, so a cat-free home is essential.<br/><br/>No young children! Franky is typically gentle and sweet, and he does fine with older children who visit his foster home. But, as can be common with the Cocker Spaniel breed, he can become wound up during play and has moments of reactivity in which he may snarl or snap. For that reason, an adult-only home is the safest and most appropriate environment for him. <br/><br/>Franky is also a dog who **needs his person around**. He experiences separation anxiety and can become extremely distressed when left alone, including wailing. He has not been left in a crate, and we are not looking for a home where he will spend long stretches of time alone.<br/><br/>Franky is a sensitive soul who needs a gentle approach. He responds best to patience, kindness, consistency, and positive reinforcement<br/><br/>Franky's ideal family includes person someone who works from home, works in a dog-friendly environment, or otherwise has the ability to include Franky in most of their day. Franky also would do best with an active family member who enjoys walking, jogging, hiking, and having a four-legged companion along for the adventure.<br/><br/>Franky isn't looking for someone to "fix" him. He needs someone willing to understand him, respect his boundaries, and help him feel safe and secure.<br/><br/>When his needs are met, he is the practically perfect companion! <br/><br/>Franky is house-trained and does especially well with access to a doggy door and yard. He is leash trained and absolutely loves, loves, loves his walks. He enjoys cuddling, sleeping beside his person, sitting at their feet or at their side, playing tug, and simply being included in whatever is happening.<br/><br/>Franky is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. <br/><br/>He has an enormous amount of love, devotion, and loyalty to give.
