Frankie (Hospice foster needed)'s Story
Frankie is a 54-pound professional cuddle consultant, slow-walk enthusiast, and certified Velcro dog. At 6 years old, she has perfected the art of leaning dramatically into her people for affection and believes no activity is complete unless she can do it right beside you. She loves soft beds, couch naps, snacks, wandering around the yard like a tiny philosopher, and quiet companionship. Her favorite outings are leisurely strolls where she can proudly show off her absolutely impeccable leash manners — no pulling, no chaos, just a sweet girl happily trotting at your side. Frankie had a rough start in life, but despite everything, she moves through the world with gentleness, trust, and a truly special kind of sweetness that’s impossible to forget.
Frankie would do best in a quiet home without other dogs, where she can soak up all the attention and care she deserves. She does well with older dog-savvy kids. Cats are an unknown, but does not do well with quick motions so they may not be the best fit for her.
Unfortunately, she has some continued challenges. As such, Frankie is looking for a special hospice-style home through a permanent volunteer placement with Canine Cupids. She has significant ongoing medical needs, including an autoimmune skin condition and most likely a neurological condition (Cerebellar Ataxia - can only be diagnosed in autopsy unfortunately though), and will need a family committed to loving and supporting her through every stage of life. While her neurological condition is progressive, her quality of life right now is excellent — she loves her walks, her people, her routines, and all the little comforts of everyday life. Though she doesn't do well with steps, so a home with little to no steps would also be best.
Canine Cupids is looking for a hospice foster for Frankie. This means we will remain responsible for things like Frankie's food, medication, and future medical bills. We also have a team of volunteers that are often willing to help with transportation to and from appointments if that becomes too much. Because of this, her hospice foster will need to be within 45 miles of Milwaukee to be closer to our volunteer support and partner veterinarians.
We do not know exactly how much time Frankie has left, but we are hoping for the perfect unicorn family to come through and give Frankie everything she deserves- a home full of love, compassion, soft pets, and warm cuddles.
