Frankie Eugenie's Story

Meet Frankie Eugene!!

** Frankie's adoption fee is partially sponsored through his foster.

This cute Brindle boy is 3 years old with a birthday of May 1st 2022.
He is Long, Tall and Handsome at approximately 65lbs,

Personality:
He is very loyal and will nudge you for attention or pets. He is a real player getting into the game with the toys he adores. Balls he loves!
He is an extremely happy and friendly boy, very cuddly and lovey. Loves toys and carries them around with him so cute. He loves walks, walks amazing on a leash and doesn’t pull at all. Really enjoys running around the yard. When he is ready to relax or crash, he loves to lounge out in the lawn or snuggle up with you. When he goes on car rides the window seat is where he likes to be. He has good recall, enjoys being off leash in the kennel or fenced in area. He is the rescue dog that enjoys spending the most time outside, he loves it out there. We think this is because he lived his last year prior to us living in the kennel outside.

Great with other dogs!
He's been good around our boys dogs while supervised. My pit mix just doesn’t care for him and is extremely jealous of him. Because of this, we haven’t let them coexist much besides short supervised interactions. (But Frankie tries to play with him or just ignores him and is so sweet still). Frankie seems completely unbothered by my pups even when the one that doesn’t like him is following him around. We love him and he is a very good dog. If my dog didn’t dislike him, we’d easily want to keep him!

Frankie with People:
He adjusted super well with his foster caregivers. He’s met several of the neighbors, one of my friends, and my parents, and has done fantastic meeting them all. We muzzled him at first just to see how the intro would go for each one but he was immediately wiggly and playful and giving kisses so we unmuzzled him for each.

Frankie's Particulars:
- He knows all Basic Commands
- Great with other Dogs
- No kids or cats
- Walks Great on Leash
- All animals fed in their kennel / alone / separately
- Caregiver only to give food, treats
[He's totally fine with us around food and treats. My neighbors tried to give him treats a few times and he growled. No treats or food around strangers].
- Observant and Aware Caregiver
[He needs to have an owner that understands and listens to a dog’s cues. He very obviously gave cues in the times he was uncomfortable with the strangers and treats, etc., which is what you want from a dog. Otherwise there are no issues with him.]
- Potty Trained
- Muzzle Trained
- Crate Trained [Doesn’t bark at all or anything when he’s put away in his crate].
- Fairly quiet dog, does not bark even when the rest do. He only growls if he feels his food is threatened inside his kennel.
- Must feed inside kennel or other room if there is another dog with no food left out at any time. No aggression with toys.

STORY:
Frankie lived with his owner in an apartment shared with a roommate. He had a lot of free range and had privileges. His owner moved back in with their parents. He was then moved to a new home where he was not aloud to do his normal Frankie Dog things. For example being on the furniture when inside was a HUGE NO. He was not aloud to reside inside & restricted to outdoor living only. During this time he lived outside for 1 year + in a kennel.

He has had particular requirements pertaining to food and treats with other animals around.
He was unfamiliar with children. He nipped at a 10 year old who was described as being over stimulating to the dog in that moment and scaring the dog. She was running and approached his area to try to pet him without him being aware / looking. He was startled and tried to nip. We require him to be in a home with adults ages 18 and older only and no children.

Frankie's life was on the line when Family member# 1 in the home threatened his life and to remove him. Family member #2 scheduled a euthanasia appointment. The dogs owner DID NOT WANT TO EUTHANIZE HER DOG. Her parents were trying to control the situation without allowing her to handle the situation or give time to find a home [Because they owned they home]. The owner pleaded for help with placing her dog. He is a great dog with particular needs that have to be met. He thrives in an environment set up for his needs. We understood that. We requested the euthanasia appointment be stopped right before the scheduled appointment. Things were halted. A family member stepped up to house him for a few days until we could get him into his temporary foster. He is now in Temp foster but in need of permanent placement. A kind person experienced with dogs that have particular needs wanted to help. Karli became our temporary foster for Frankie Eugene.

VETTING WITH ADOPTION INCLUDES:
- Neutered
- Rabies
- Distemper Vaccinations
- Dewormed
- Flea and Tick Treatment Current
- Microchipped
- Heartworm [-]& Lyme's Disease [+]. He took meds for initial treatment. They also have additional meds that can be given if he requires it for a flair up.

TO ADOPT APPLY BY:
Email @ NPLBrescue@gmail.com
or
Call 724-393-0348
with your Contact Information [Name, Phone number, Email, and zip code]
