Frank - UPDATE's Story

Oct 24/26- We retested Frank with a calmer kitty and he did wonderful!!

Age: Approximately 13 years old / Mixed Breed / Neutered Male / 80 lbs

HOUSEHOLD REQUIREMENTS

KIDS: Frank has been friendly with everyone he has met and would likely do well in a home with older children 15+ as he prefers a quieter home environment

OTHER DOGS: NO Frank has been indifferent to the other dogs in our care but on his first few walks with volunteers he has noted to be reactive. We would prefer to err on the side of caution

CATS:YES with a dog savvy cat

ENVIRONMENT: Frank is looking for a quiet, comfortable home where he can enjoy the simple pleasures of retirement. A home with access to a yard or a close front door out might be best so he doesn't have to walk too far to get outside

CARE & COMMITMENT

SENIOR DOG SUPPORT: As a senior gentleman, Frank has some arthritis and a few age-related lumps and bumps. His recent health assessment and bloodwork returned good results, but his future family should be prepared to provide ongoing veterinary care and support as he ages gracefully.

MODERATE EXERCISE: Frank doesn't need marathon hikes or intense adventures. He is happiest enjoying a good walk followed by plenty of time relaxing in a cozy spot.

ABOUT FRANK

Frank is a sweet senior soul who is very ready to trade shelter living for the comfort of a loving home. It is always hard to have senior animals in shelter, they deserve a loving home over being kenneled.

At an estimated 12 -13 years old, Frank has perfected the art of enjoying life's simple pleasures. A comfy bed, a tasty snack, some gentle affection, and a leisurely stroll are all it takes to make this handsome old gentleman happy.

Frank has been friendly with the people he has met. He's an easy-going companion who would much rather spend his days lounging beside his people than getting into any trouble. Well... unless there's an unattended snack nearby. In that case, all bets are off! Frank is a dedicated food enthusiast and will happily relieve you of treats or tasty morsels if given the opportunity.

Despite his age, Frank recently received a health check that came back with encouraging results. While he has some arthritis and the expected lumps and bumps that come with being a senior dog, his bloodwork was normal and he still has plenty of love left to give.

Frank really needs a home where he can enjoy the comfort and dignity every senior dog deserves. The shelter is no place for a sweet old man to spend his golden years. If you're looking for a loyal companion to share quiet days, cozy evenings, and gentle walks, Frank may be the perfect addition to your family.

Open your heart and home to Frank, and give this deserving senior the soft landing he's been waiting for.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO APPLY?

If you would like to meet Frank, please submit an inquiry from Petfinder by clicking "Start your inquiry" on this page.

Or reach out directly via email to: animal.shelter@vancouver.ca

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes.
Children: Yes 15+
Cats: Yes
Dogs: No
Training Needs:
Adoption Fee: $119

If you live in the City of Vancouver, you will also need to purchase a dog licence.

For more information on our adoption process, go to vancouver.ca/adopt
