My name is Francesca. When I was a puppy, a family rescued and adopted me from a large kill facility in Chicago. If my family had worked with me on my puppy issues, I would probably have been able to work through them. Unfortunately, they didn’t want to devote the time and effort to helping me so they gave me up to Save-A-Pet. I was only 11 months and already my young life was confusing and scary. Well, to be honest, I am probably better off at the shelter than in my old home.

I don’t have many friends, but the ones I do have love me an awful lot. They try to work with me and get me to open my heart and start trusting again. It’s not easy, though – I just don’t know to trust. I love to play but I am scared to completely let go of my anxiety and play at ease. I get nervous and protective of my toys and tend to also get a little protective of my food. I think I might have what some people would call “fear aggression,” which means I get a little “aggressive” to protect myself when I am scared. Of course, my fears do not always make sense to people. Shoot, they don’t always make sense to me! My reactions can be unpredictable. Sometimes I don’t even know what scares me. I do know, however, that the longer I spend with someone, the more I trust and the less my fear and fear aggression show. Because of my issues, I need someone who is willing to love me and give me the chance to fall in love with them and to trust them. It probably won’t be the easiest of roads, but I am so worth it.
