Fortune's Story

Meet Mochi

Mochi spent far too long learning what neglect felt like before she ever got the chance to learn what love was.

She should have had soft beds, gentle hands, toys of her own, and someone who noticed when she was hurting. Instead, this little Frenchie went without the care she deserved for far too long.

You can still see some of that history in her ears. Old hematomas were left untreated long enough to cause scar tissue, leaving her ears thickened and folded into the sweetest little “mochi” shape. She has now been examined by a veterinarian, and thankfully, her ears are cosmetic at this point and do not require surgery.

But the most incredible thing about Mochi is that her past did not make her bitter.

She is still silly. Still gentle. Still affectionate. Still happy to be included in whatever her people are doing. She is easygoing, quiet, and incredibly sweet. She is not a barker, chewer, or digger. She is simply a little dog who wants what she should have had all along: a family of her own.

Mochi does not need someone to feel sorry for her.

She needs someone to choose her.

Someone who will let her sleep on the soft bed. Someone who will laugh at her silly little face. Someone who will look at those folded ears and see exactly what we see: a beautiful little girl who survived a hard beginning and somehow kept all of her sweetness.

She has already spent enough of her life being overlooked. The first 3 years of her life were unfair but it's never too late to show her what love feels like.

Now it is Mochi’s turn to be loved.

She is simply a little dog who wants what she should have had all along

Misfit Manor Rescue & Sanctuary 's Adoption Policy
Potential adopters must complete an application so we can evaluate the home, lifestyle, experience, current pets, and ability to meet the individual animal’s needs. Veterinary and landlord references may be verified, and meet-and-greets with household members and resident animals may be required. Adoptions are based on the best long-term match rather than first-come, first-served. Known medical, behavioral, and special-care needs are fully disclosed before placement. Approved adopters sign an adoption agreement requiring appropriate veterinary care, safe housing, and humane treatment. Animals may not be sold, transferred, or given away. If an adopter can no longer keep the animal, the animal must be returned to Misfit Manor Rescue and Sanctuary.
