Forrest's Story

Meet Forest
Breed: Dachshund mix
Weight: 13 lbs

Forest’s story started with heartbreak. He and his sister were abandoned and it took 12 careful hours to safely trap them. But once he realized he was safe, this little guy blossomed into one of the most loving companions you could ever meet. Forest is a true shadow dog, a professional lap warmer, and a certified snuggle expert. If you’re looking for devotion in a tiny package, he’s your boy.

Because of his past, Forest needs a secure and patient home that understands he may take a little time to fully trust. He can be nervous in busy environments and would thrive in a calm, quieter household where he can feel safe and settle in at his own pace.

A secure privacy fence is required, as he has some impressive escape skills when fencing isn’t sturdy. And when adventures call, he’ll need a harness since he can slip out of a collar if determined.

The good news? Forest loves walks and does great on leash. He’s improving with potty training and is making steady progress. He’s crate trained, though his dream setup would be snuggled under the covers with his people. Once he feels comfortable, he enjoys playing with small balls and tiny stuffies.

Cats don’t bother him one bit. He prefers to keep his distance like a polite little gentleman. He also lights up around other dogs and would likely enjoy having a calm canine companion.

Forest has already shown how resilient and loving he can be. Now he just needs a patient heart and a secure home to match his loyalty. 🖤
Prior to meeting or adopting any of our wonderful animals, we ask that you please fill out our online application: https://form.jotform.com/223268341300041

We are a 100% volunteer organization and have to work other jobs to pay the bills. Please give us up to 48 hours to respond.

Submission of an adoption application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee approval. We look forward to hearing from you.

Please note all animals in the home must be altered, up to date on vaccines, and be on heartworm prevention. We understand there are some special cases and will take those into consideration.
