Forest's Story
Meet Forest! This sweet boy comes with a sad story - he and his buddy Grover, now happily adopted, were abandoned at a campground in Kentucky. When the rangers spotted them, they were wet, skinny and understandably terrified. It took weeks for rescuers to earn their trust and once they did, they made their way to STAF.

Today, you would never know that he had such a rough first start in life. He is 65 lbs. full of American Bulldog love. Forest is strong and was hard to handle at first on leash. He has since attended training and many volunteers can vouch that he is now great on leash and walks. He knows when to get into training mode! It would be great if his future home could continue this amazing progress.

Here are some other testaments from Forest’s volunteer friends:
-"Forest loves to take car rides and has some wonderful playmates at STAF."
-“Forest- so sweet, easy to walk and great in the car. He learns very quickly and despite his horrible start in life he is well mannered while out and about. He already knows sit and stay and we are working on downs!”
-“Forest.. such a dream to walk now. His training worked wonders.”
-“ Forest had become a loving and sweet natured dog, and STAF dog volunteers are making sure that he receives professional obedience training and plenty of love and affection. I adore them!”
-“Forest is sweet and does not know how big he is! Very affectionate.”

Forest would prefer a home without cats and/or small dogs. He needs an experienced dog handler to help him be more at ease with people and dogs he does know well.

Think Forest might be the dog for you? Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process. *** Email adoptadog@STAF.org for next steps!

• All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
• We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.
• You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.
• Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.
• We do request vet and personal references.
• We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
