Flo!'s Story

Meet Flo!

She is a 3 year old, 15 pound, long haired girl who came to rescue with her puppies as an owner surrender from Puerto Rico. Flo is spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. Awesome momma to Mel, Alice, and Vera, Flo is now ready to be someone’s cherished companion.

Flo is a gentle, low energy little lady who enjoys a calm lifestyle. She is independent by nature and appreciates having her own space, often choosing to relax in her kennel, which she sees as a cozy and safe retreat. Flo does not play with toys and would much rather spend her time lounging or quietly keeping you company.

She enjoys the company of other dogs, especially those closer to her size, but does not love large or rambunctious dogs. Flo would be happiest in a peaceful home environment where things stay fairly low key.

Flo is house trained, though she may need a few days to settle into a new routine when transitioning to a new home. She is currently working on her leash skills and continues to improve each day. This sweet dog may express their excitement and curiosity by barking at new people. With a little patience and understanding, you'll see her easygoing personality shine through.

When Flo was rescued, she was matted and needed to be shaved, but her coat is growing back beautifully. Based on her appearance and personality, she may be a Chihuahua, Yorkie, Shih Tzu, or Maltese mix, though her exact breed blend is unknown.

Flo would do best in a calm, low traffic home where she can truly relax and enjoy being a lap dog. In return, she will offer quiet companionship, loyalty, and plenty of charm to the lucky family who gives her a forever home.

Owning a dog is not just a privilege; it’s a responsibility. They depend on us for, at minimum, food and shelter, and deserve much more. When you take a dog into your life, you need to understand the commitment that dog ownership entails. So please before you apply be sure you are not just ready for the joy but are prepared for the responsibility.

Before applying to adopt, we encourage you to research the financial and time commitments involved in raising a dog. It’s important to have discussions as a family, especially if this is your first dog. We recommend looking into training options as well.

We will begin processing applications this week, and the review process may take anywhere from 1 to 15 days. Thank you for your patience!

Please note that adoptions are limited to the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), and applicants must be at least 21 years old.

If you already have an application on file, please email heavencanwaitny@gmail.com with the subject line “Flo”.
