<p>Flirt will remain in the <strong>Recovery Room</strong> until cleared for adoption.</p><br/><br/><p><strong>Update June 25, 2026:</strong> Flirt is doing exceptionally well one week post op. This little angel has flown through this procedure with flying colors! She amazes me! She feels well, eats like a little piggy, and sleeps well. Her stitches come out in 1 week. She really enjoys the company of the other household dogs. She follows the pack everywhere.</p><br/><br/><p>Flirt is from a breeder release / mill dog facility. She is the most precious puppy girl! Young Flirt has a medical condition called PDA. Patent ductus arteriosus. The ductus arteriosus is an opening between the aorta and the pulmonary artery, the two main blood vessels leading from the heart. It is normally present during fetal development. When the newborn puppy takes its first breath, the ductus is stimulated to close. Closure of the ductus arteriosus ensures that blood will circulate through the inflated lungs and become oxygenated. Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a heart defect that occurs when the ductus arteriosus does not close at birth. Untreated this will lead to congestive heart failure. Surgical repair should be performed as soon as possible.</p><br/><br/><p>Come join us on the journey as we progress through Flirt's heart surgery which is scheduled for June 18th.</p>
