Flint's Story
Meet Flint: A Shy Pup Learning to Trust and Looking for a Forever Home!

At just 6 months old and 45lbs, Flint is a shepherd/cattle dog mix who has already had quite a journey. Flint and his brother and sister were found abandoned in the desert, where a rescuer worked to safely capture them and bring them to safety. Dog Coalition LA partnered with the rescuer to get all three pups into foster homes, giving Flint the chance to learn what it means to be safe, cared for, and loved.

In foster care, Flint is showing that underneath his cautious exterior is a playful, curious puppy. He loves being around other dogs and is happiest when he has a canine friend to explore and play with. Flint is still very shy around people, but he is slowly beginning to trust his foster family. He is venturing out of his crate more and more each week, and when he feels nervous or overwhelmed, his crate is his safe place where he can decompress. His foster is working on leash skills and hand-feeding to help him build positive associations with people and begin learning basic skills.

Flint would do best with an adopter who understands that building trust will take time and is willing to let him move at his own pace. A confident, playful dog in the home could be a wonderful source of comfort and companionship for him, and he would likely prefer a home where he has a canine friend to learn from and explore with. We think there is a goofy, fun-loving puppy waiting to emerge once Flint realizes that humans aren't so bad. With some patience, consistency, and plenty of time, this puppy is sure to shine.

What You Should Know About Flint:

- sweet 6-month-old, 45lb pup looking for a patient forever family who will give him the time he needs to feel safe

- expected to be around 60lbs fully grown

- playful and curious with dogs, but currently shy and fearful around people; he is making small but meaningful strides in building trust

- might be a great match for an experienced, patient adopter with a confident resident dog who can give him companionship while he learns that the human world can be a pretty good place

To meet Flint, please fill out an adoption form on dogcoalitionla.org/adopt and follow @dogcoaltionla for updates!
