Fletcher NC's Story
Meet Fletcher – A Gentle Soul Looking for a Patient Heart

New Port Richey, FL | 1.5-Year-Old Australian Shepherd Mix

Fletcher is a handsome, shy young Aussie mix who just needs a little time — and a lot of love — to show you his sweet, loyal heart. He's neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and protected with flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

While fully potty trained, Fletcher isn't crate trained due to extreme fear. Instead, he does best when left in a small, safe room for short periods. Once he feels secure, his affectionate personality shines, and he'll gladly soak up gentle pets and playtime.

It's believed that Fletcher didn't get enough socialization as a puppy, so new people and unfamiliar dogs can be intimidating for him. He does best with slow introductions, ideally outdoors, where he can approach at his own pace.

Fletcher is learning leash manners and may need extra patience in new environments — he can be flighty on leash or in the car, so caution is a must. A secure, fenced yard is required for his safety.

He thrives in a calm, low-traffic home without young children. Teens 15+ may be a good fit if the home remains quiet and predictable. Fletcher gets along with friendly dogs, cats, and even livestock — and doesn't mind birds at all! He may guard toys or treats at first but responds beautifully to positive reinforcement (especially if cheese is involved ).

Ideal Home
A patient adopter willing to continue his training and build trust
A calm, low-traffic household
A fenced yard for safe playtime
Another confident, friendly dog is recommended to help him feel secure (though not required)

With patience, understanding, and a kind heart, Fletcher will blossom into a devoted companion who rewards your care tenfold.

If you think Fletcher is the a perfect fit for you and your family please submit our adoption application at the link below.

https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application

There are some additional fees: $20 microchip transfer fee to register and transfer him to his new furever family.

If you would like to help us save more awesome dogs like Fletcher please consider making a small donation at PayPal.me/ASF
