Flash's Story

This sweet boy is Flash and he's an adorable Bassett Hound mix who is just 1 year old. He's a little low rider who has such a lovely charming personality and is fully grown at just 40 pounds so he's a great medium sized guy. He's living with a foster family and gets along great with both adults and kids and loves everyone he meets. He also loves playing with other pups and taking nice long naps. His secret power is he's a quiet guy who loves giving and getting love. Flash is healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations, housebroken and crate trained. Reach out to Long Road Home (lrhrescue@gmail.com).

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
