Fiona's Story

Fiona is still waiting to find a foster-to-adopt or forever home. She is sweet, gentle, timid girl - a pointer mix about 5 years old - who came from large hoarding situation. It takes her time to trust new people - but with time and patience - and some treats - she will learn you are a friend. Once she does that, she is a lovable dog who will become a true and fast friend. Fiona loves other dogs and we want to see her in a home with at least one other dog of similar size (she weighs about 45 pounds) or larger. She likes smaller dogs too, but we want her to have a playmate her own size! She will need a fenced yard - she has learned lots about living in a home, but she is still terrified of a leash. Leash-training will be a process that will be ongoing. Fiona is house trained, crate trained, and knows her basic commands. She will do best with a family with a quiet lifestyle. An adult home may be best because a lot of commotion will scare her. If you can give her the time she will need to relax, she will be a wonderful companion! Furry Friends Foster and Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy

Our goal is to help you find a wonderful new family member! We work closely with you to ensure that the dog you adopt will be a wonderful match for your family's make-up and lifestyle. Our adoption and foster placement processes includes an application, personal and vet reference checks, a home visit, and a meet and greet with the dog and all family members and other pets. Placement is considered on the basis of the best interests of the dog and the best fit with the family - we do not adopt on a "first come, first served" basis. We do not transport our dogs outside of the state of CT. If you live outside of CT and are able to travel to us after an application is approved, with your family and other pets, for a meet and greet and to complete the adoption in CT if that goes well, you're welcome to apply to adopt one of our dogs, as long as you live in one of the New England states. We do not adopt our dogs long-distance, or outside of the New England area. PLEASE NOTE: All of our dogs live in foster homes within the state of CT. We do not have a facility. For that reason we ask that you go through the application/approval process prior to a meet and greet, which is always part of our placement protocol. We do this because we try to keep our foster families' day to day lives s uninterrupted as possible. You can fill out an adoption application at our website.
