Finn's Story

Finn
Am. Staffordshire/Tennessee Treeing Brindle
Male
2.5 yrs old
19" tall at shoulders
35 pounds

What a happy, little spirit! Finn is a mixed breed pup that loves with all of his heart. He is an excellent companion that loves to hang out with his person(s) or go for walks or car rides. He is just the happiest little guy and greets everyone with a wag and a smile.
We are awaiting his DNA results so we can solve the mystery of “what is Finn?” but we can tell you that he has a small-medium build, currently weighing in at just 32 pounds, and has the beautiful brindle colored coat and floppy ears that many wonderful hound breeds have, as well as some of the medium sized breeds such as Boxers, American Staffordshires, etc. He could stand to gain about 5 pounds at this time.
Finn is back in his foster home with Me and My Shadow Dog Rescue after 2 years of being in an adoptive home. He originally came to us as a little pup of about 3-4 months of age. A good Samaritan found him running as a stray(how sad is that!) and stopped to pick him up. They reached out to us and we took him in. We found him what we thought would be his loving, forever home……but no. On May 31/2025, the previous adopter turned him into the city shelter. Fortunately the shelter gave us a call(our info was on his chip) and we picked our sweet boy up. We were overjoyed to see that Finn was the same happy go lucky little guy that we knew previously….at least for the most part. Not all was well. First off, he was very thin. Next, we noticed that he had open wounds on his front legs where clearly another dog had really sunk their canines into him. He also had other wounds that had healed but left their marks. This poor boy that once played endlessly with the pups in his foster home 2 years ago had clearly not had an easy go of it for the last 2 years. When he was adopted, he was the only dog in the home. At some point, we suspect that the adopter moved into a home that had a resident dog and that dog was not kind to Finn. Unfortunately, Finn is now nervous around other dogs. He does well in public, on leash, when he sees other dogs but we have decided that Finn needs to be the only dog in his forever home.

Finn is still young and active but also a very calm, well behaved dog. He loves to play in the backyard and shows no inclination to escape. He also does well in the house. He loves to tuck himself away in his crate for a little time out when he is done snuggling with you.
And don’t you just love a boy dog that pees like a girl dog – as in he squats to pee rather than lifts his leg? There’s no leg lifting in or out of the house!

Please open your heart to this very special boy.
