Finn Beckett's Story

AFFECTIONATE, GOOFY, AND BLOSSOMING INTO THE PERFECT COMPANION!

Hi, I’m Finn!

Right now I’m staying in boarding while I wait for my forever family. I’m doing my best to be brave, but what I really want is a home of my own where I can relax, feel safe, and stay close to my people. I do well with submissive female dogs, but I’m not a match for male dogs or small dogs. I am good with cats, though!

I’m a loyal guardian type who loves having a yard to watch over, and I take that job seriously. I love being outside, but I also really want to be inside with my people. I respect secure fencing, but I’m athletic, so a solid, well-built fence is important for me.

I enjoy going for walks and settle nicely into the rhythm after a few minutes. I walk well on leash, though I may get excited if I see a squirrel or something extra-interesting. I’m generally polite around other dogs on walks if they keep a respectful distance. Loud e-bikes and sirens get my attention — I like to announce them! — but regular people, joggers, and traffic are no big deal to me.

Inside the home, I’m easygoing and well-mannered. I’m fully house-trained and will quietly go to the door when I need to go out. I can be left alone uncrated and won’t bother your things — I mostly relax or nap. I like bones and chew toys, but I can be protective of them around other dogs, so those should be managed carefully in a multi-dog home. With humans, though, I’m nothing but gentle and affectionate.

I’m very food-motivated and I do gobble my meals, so I should be fed separately from other animals. I’m never aggressive with humans — honestly, I’m just thrilled when you hand me my bowl. I love treats (especially chicken jerky!), and because I want so much to please, those treats go a long way in helping me learn. I still need work on formal commands, but I’m smart, and with patience and rewards, I’ll get there.

My favorite moments are the simple ones — leaning against you while you pet me, resting my head on your lap, or getting wrapped up in a towel after the rain while you talk to me. That’s when I feel most connected. I also really like being brushed and will patiently wait while you work through my fluffy coat. I may look big and majestic, but deep down, I’m just a sensitive, loyal boy who loves deeply and bonds strongly.

If you’re looking for a devoted companion — a true guardian with a soft heart — and you have room in your life for a gentle Pyr who wants to belong, I might be the perfect match. I’m ready to love, protect, learn, and finally settle into the forever home I’ve been waiting for.

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta's Adoption Policy
Great Pyrenees are the southeasts best kept secret. We are a magnificent and majestic breed that is one of the best dogs a family can own - we really are. We are gentle giants loved by all because we combine two characteristics that are hard to beat. First, we are terrific family pets. We are lovable and gentle with children - we love them even when they treat us like massive fluff balls! Second, and where we differ from most house pets, we are protectors. I tend to be the witty observer but my big brother Jenkins is a typical Great Pyrenees and he is amazing as he patrols our property watching for anything unusual. He takes his job very seriously. Great Pyrenees were bred as working dogs and our "job" in the home is to protect our "family". We have regular adoption days - usually every other Saturday from 11am until 1 pm at the Perimeter Petsmart in Atlanta, GA visit our website to see current adoption days

Our Mission
Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter.
