Breed: Shepherd/retriever mix

Weight: About 50ish pounds

Vetting: Up to date on vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped

Before FAR: Finn was rescued from an abandoned house as an older puppy by animal welfare. It was clear that he had not had human interaction and was terrified of humans. It has taken tremendous patience, but Finn has come a long way from the scared puppy that he was to the quirky, funny dog that would thrive in right home. Finn will need an experienced dog owner. While Finn has come so far, he still can be unsure in new situations and needs an owner that can recognize these instances. The great thing with Finn is that in most cases once he can get through the insecurity of a given situation, he is fine with it going forward.

Ideal home: Have at least one confident playful dog for Finn to model. Finn may not ever be the typical close human companion, but he loves other dogs and would be a loyal companion and playmate to another dog that shares his energy level. After many months, Finn is still adapting to loving humans as much as he loves other dogs. He certainly appreciates humans for their willingness to provide food and water and has no problem letting them know when it is mealtime. He is slowly but surely coming to appreciate head and belly scratches and that may come even quicker in a home that isn't quite as full as his foster home, but his ideal home will have the patience to let him be the dog he is, which is kind of perfectly Finn.
