Fig's Story

Meet Fig!

This charming hound mix has an estimated birthdate of 09/01/2023 and she's everything you could want in a family dog. She's gentle, funny, and terribly affectionate. It doesn't seem like anyone has worked with her yet on basic commands, but she listens well, and she is smart and curious and very interested in food and toys and eager to please so we think she would be very easy to train. She currently weighs 40lbs.

Fig takes her toys as seriously as her eye makeup (we're not sure what you call this particular application but it's giving sort of soulful glam). She loves plushies, squeakers, balls, wobbles, and snuffle mats, and with some encouragement she could probably learn fetch. She is lovely on leash and while she prefers to have her humans within hugging distance, she is also happy playing or relaxing on her own. We think she would be good with kids and probably cats with an appropriate slow introduction. She has met several dogs here at the shelter and seems open to having dog companions.

**In Order to adopt an unspayed/unneutered dog from HSMC, You must live within an hour of the shelter. You will initially "Foster to Adopt" the dog and then the adoption will be finalized when they are brought back for their spay/neuter surgery. You will need to bring the dog back for vaccines and exams prior to their spay/neuter surgery**

So, if you're looking for your first dog or a new addition to your family, and you think Fig might be a perfect fit, bounce over to our website and fill out an adoption application to get started: www.hsmcohio.org

Our adoption fees vary, Shelter Dogs are $180, Prison Dogs are $250, Puppies are $300, and Popular Pure-Breeds are $400. The price includes: a Home Again Microchip, set of shots, de-worming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a 1 year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs adopted must leave with a $21 county license.
