Fifi's Story
Fifi - 4 years, 8lbs, Chi, Spayed

This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal's name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org

Their Foster Parent Says: "FIFI is a happy, confident little girl with a heart full of love and a playful spirit to match. She greets you with the sweetest excitement, her tail wagging nonstop the moment she sees you, and her favorite place in the world is cuddled up right next to you (or right on top of you). She has a fun, playful side and loves her tennis balls and lambchop stuffed toys. Whether it's a game of fetch or little bursts of play throughout the day, FIFI lives when she has time to be playful at home. She's confident outside and does well on walks, but loud or sudden noises can startle her a bit. FIFI is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and loving. She adores belly rubs and will happily melt into you for snuggles. She's the perfect mix of playful energy and calm companionship, and she's ready to bring so much joy and love into her forever home."

Level of dog ownership experience required:
BEGINNER – “Beginner” doesn't necessarily mean easy as all dogs will require time, work, and patience, but we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale because of their breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup.

Energy level:
LOWER – She is a mix of lower level and medium energy dog, she loves to play when she's home but also loves a cuddle and doesn't need long walks.

Okay in the city? Adjusting to the city. She's pretty confident overall but can be spooked by loud noises and bustling areas.

Potty trained? Sort of. She will pee and poop outdoors but she is not fully potty trained and she will also pee inside the apartment her and there.

Leash Manners: She does great overall on a leash, but she does get very curious and doesn't always walk straight ahead

Social with dogs? She loves other dogs, she approaches most dogs she sees hoping to play.

Social with other animals? She loves birds and squirrels and she seems very interested in chasing them.

Comfort level with Strangers: She is happy to see most people she sees and will greet them with a wagging tail.

Comfortable with children? (ALWAYS requires adult supervision) Not sure, we don't have children and we haven't seen her interact with children. Unsure.

Separation Anxiety: She does fine on her own, she basically sleeps.

Cuddle Bug Level: High. She is so sweet and loves to cuddle up with you. When we are on the couch she is cuddled right up against your leg, or even on you. When we sleep she cuddles up right next to us.

Mouthy behavior: We notice that when she is getting really good scratches that she will use her mouth, almost like excitement, but she is not biting. More like a very very gentle nibble or even just opening of her mouth and not biting down at all. It's so gentle and we think it's out of excitement.

Crate training: She seems very comfortable in the crate

Medical status:
Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake

How did this dog end up with Social Tees?
Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses.

This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.

LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc
