Fiat's Story
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

---

Meet Fiat. This frisky boy was rescued from a homeless camp... we call him 'frisky' because he's actually the daddy to TWO different litters of puppies we rescued. Silly boy! According to our veterinary team, Fiat is about 2 years old and 25 pounds of solid boy. We are saying he is primarily a chihuahua mix based on puppy DNA.

Currently in a foster home, Fiat is doing great. He has been a good friend to a long term foster who is shy with people, they have been having fun. The other foster even taught Fiat how to use the doggy door. He arrived not well housebroken, but after just a few days figured it out. He will likely need reminders in a new home. Fiat is crate trained, and is even enjoying leash walks. He has meet kids, but is a little unsure of their stompy nature and we think an older child home would be best. He does love over dogs too.

Fiat is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. He is heart worm negative.

The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.

Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.

Adoptions typically take place in Marysville.
Adoption fee is $325. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.

Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.

Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
