Feta's Story

Feta is a 4-year-old, 40-pound Heeler mix who simply deserves the chance to experience what safety, kindness, and stability truly feel like. Her early life was marked by profound hardship, years spent in inhumane conditions, crowded together with more than 150 dogs, repeatedly having puppies. When that nightmare finally ended, Feta found herself facing yet another challenge: an entire year in an overcrowded county shelter. It’s hard to imagine so much uncertainty packed into one gentle soul.
Despite everything she has endured, Feta’s quiet strength is remarkable. She allows all physical handling and has never snapped at anyone, even when fear or self-protection would be completely understandable. Her patience and gentleness speak volumes about the kind of dog she is, one who has endured far too much, yet still chooses trust.
At this stage, Feta isn’t quite ready to seek out human affection, but her connection with other dogs tells a beautiful story. Around canine friends, her sweet, playful personality begins to emerge, offering glimpses of the happy dog she is still discovering how to be. A home with one or more friendly dogs would help her feel safe and supported as her confidence grows.
Feta is looking for a calm, understanding adopter who will allow her to move at her own pace and show her, day by day, that her future will be far kinder than her past.
Feta’s adoption fee of $250 includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. To meet Feta, please call 602-971-1334 to schedule an appointment, or visit Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm during walk-in hours
