Fern's Story
Meet Fern, a teenage shepherd with a big heart! Fern weighs about 55lbs and has the softest fur in the world. Fern is looking for a home that is committed to positive reinforcement training and will help her feel more confident in the world. She can be uncomfortable with other dogs and with being left alone. Someone who can help her gradually get comfortable with absences, and who can honor her requests to avoid time with other dogs, would be her dream home. Providing her with plenty of mental and physical enrichment will mean you'll end up with a super fun and devoted companion. Come visit this gal at the shelter or call (707)542-0882 to speak with an adoptions counselor for more information.<br/><br/>Here is a Love Letter from Fern's foster home:<br/>"Fern is smart and sweet, and would be a fantastic addition to a household with younger adults who want to play with her! She is great in the car, and sleeps at the foot of our bed. She seemed to go to the door when she wanted to go out and only had one accident in the house. She's a bit hesitant on walks but with time and patience, she could be wonderful. She likes playing with balls outdoors especially alternating two balls for her to chase. While I watered our enclosed garden, Fern had the zoomies and played with the sprinkler. So cute watching her play bow with the sprinkler head. She definitely likes water. She does settle and it seems as though she's settling faster as time goes on; we rewarded her for lying down wherever that was. Fern particularly liked handing out with us on the patio in the late afternoon. Fern didn't see our cat, but she heard him and smelled him. She didn't have strong prey drive. For example, she didn't fixate on the lizards that are all over our backyard. She's very enthusiastic about visitors!"
