Faith's Story

Meet Faith!

We believe she is a Catahoula hound mix, about three years old, and 45 pounds of softness and resilience. She has been with us since September, and her story is one we will never forget.

When we first saw Faith at Colleton County Animal Shelter, she was dragging a broken front leg and her back legs were not working. The shelter did not have the resources to treat her, and she was at risk of being euthanized. We did not have a plan. We did not have the funds lined up. We just had faith. That is how she got her name.

She had surgery on her leg in September and has made a full recovery. Since then, she has been spayed, vaccinated, and completed heartworm treatment. Her body has healed beautifully.
Her heart is still catching up.

We do not know what her first few years looked like, but Faith is gentle, sensitive, and easily startled. Since November, she has been in a foster home with kids and another dog and has made incredible progress. The timid girl who once froze at everything now leans in for affection. She loves people so much. She will shower you in kisses and then quietly settle beside you like she has always belonged there.

She is great with other dogs. We joke that she is socially awkward because she is not quite sure how to play, but she tries. You can see her wanting to be brave.
Faith may never be the bold, carefree dog who walks into every room with confidence, and that is okay. She needs someone who understands sensitive dogs. She can be skittish on leash and feels safest when her people are home. A work from home family or someone who spends a lot of time at home would be ideal. She recently started an affordable anxiety medication that has helped her tremendously.

She is fully potty trained and crate trained. She is sweet, funny, affectionate, smart, and a little quirky. Catahoula lovers know exactly what that means.
Faith does not need perfect. She needs patient. She needs steady. She needs someone who sees how far she has come and chooses her anyway.

If you think that might be you, apply at

BridgeBetweenAnimalRescue.org/adopt

The Bridge Between Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
We require approved applications before potential adopters can meet any of our pets, (unless we are at a public event with adoptable animals). Our adoption process is as follows: the first step is to submit an application on our website in the "adopt" tab. Then we will need to receive any veterinary records for current or previous pets. Once those are received, we reach out to references, and then set up a home visit and meet and greet for the pet the potential adopter is interested in.
