Fabiola Jul 25 - In Foster in Durham, NC's Story

Bob & Lisa Durham Adopting 09/30/25Date into Rescue: 07/25/2025
Reason for being in rescue: Born into rescue
Foster location: Foster Home in Durham, NC
Special Needs? Fabiola is up to date on vaccines for her age. Fabiola's mom Maya is a maltese mix who arrived in rescue via a shelter who seized her and other dogs in the home due to cruelty. We do not know anything about her past. Fabiola's dad is a man of mystery. We cannot guarantee that she is hypoallergenic or that she won't shed. Fabiola requires another small, active dog in the home.
Weight: 3.25 lbs and growing - we expect Sonia will be between 25-30 lbs when full grown
Height: 6 in and growing - we expect Fabiola will be ~12 inches when full grown
Spayed/Neutered: No. Fabiola is too small to be spayed. She will be placed on a spay/neuter addendum that requires you to spay her at your cost within 9 months and provide proof of spay to our rescue.

Adoption Fee: $399

Fence needed? No

What kind of home would be best for me? We are looking for a very specific home for Fabiola. If you do not meet all of these criteria, your application will not be considered. First, Fabiola requires another active dog in the home. She loves to play and is looking for a canine playmate in her forever home. Second, we are looking for a home that embraces pets the way her foster home does. This means dogs are allowed on the furniture, they can sleep in the bed if they want, and they are beloved members of families. Third, Fabiola requires a family where someone is home more than they are away. You could work from home, home school, be an active retiree or have a stay-at-home family member. The key is that your dogs are not alone for more than 2-3 hours each day. Finally, Fabiola is looking for a home that takes their dogs places. Socialization with other people and animals is key. It could be road trips, running errands, visits with family, planned playdates with friends, etc.

What is my personality like? Fabiola, or “Fabby” to her many friends, is a social butterfly. She loves to welcome everyone into her world of fun and is always ready to keep the good times going. After lots of play and entertaining, this sweet girl is happiest snuggled up for a well-earned cuddle.

PUPPY POLICY:

Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog.
Our ideal puppy adopters are:
-experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets
-scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home
-stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc.)

How do I act when I first meet new people? Fabiola is a happy, gregarious puppy who loves everyone she meets.

Other tips and tidbits: Fabiola was born 07/25/2025

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
