Everett - Rescued from the brink!'s Story

Everett’s story is a true rescue miracle.

This little stray was discovered just in time, shivering and cowering in a giant potted plant in an outdoor parking garage. With patience and some food scraps, a good Samaritan was able to coax this frightened bag of bones into her car where he promptly fell asleep in the warm interior. His rescuer took him immediately to a veterinarian where he was given a warm bath and relieved of many fleas. Though on the brink of starvation, Everett is remarkably healthy! His rescuer has been fostering him for several weeks now and he gains strength and weight every day. He was only 11 pounds on his first vet visit, but we think his ideal weight might be around 22 lbs. Psychologically he is healing as well. On his 12th day in his foster home, he began to play with his Chihuahua housemate (see attached video).

Everett LOVES being warm and cared for. Even though he isn’t fond of going into the cold outdoors for potty breaks (even with a sweater on), he’s managed to succeed with his house training! This affectionate guy is a big snuggler! In his foster home, he likes to climb into a lap for a snooze or settle in a cushy dog bed next to the resident Chihuahua. He will bond strongly to whoever he trusts, as he has done with his current caregiver. He has just started to go for short leash walks.

Everett’s ideal adopter has a quiet home with a securely fenced yard where he will be given time to adapt. He will be shy at first so someone with a lot of patience or experience winning over very shy dogs is ideal. He would be happy to live with another gentle dog and though we haven’t tested it, it’s possible he could live with a dog-savvy cat. This insecure guy would not do well in a busy household with young children, nor would he tolerate being left alone for a workday.

If you have room in your heart and in your home for a true rescue miracle, please apply at the link below.

ADOPTION INFO
Everett’s adoption fee includes:
- All Basic Dog Vaccinations
- Rabies
- Bordetella
- Flea & Tick Treatment
- Neuter
- Microchip & Registration

All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs and cats in our rescue.

APPLY ON OUR WEBSITE AT THE LINKS BELOW
ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://www.redwagginrescue.org/adopt

FOSTER APPLICATION: https://www.redwagginrescue.org/foster
