Esther's Story
Esther is a 3-year-old, 16 lb female Terrier/Chihuahua mix from California who just arrived in NYC on 2/28. She has already adjusted very well during her first days on the Upper West Side, though her personality is still emerging as she settles into her new environment.

Esther enjoys going for walks, cuddling up with her foster family, and playing with her favorite toy rabbit. She's an energetic yet cuddle-loving pup who balances playful moments with plenty of cozy downtime.

During her time with her foster family, Esther seems to be house trained and is working on settling into a consistent potty schedule. She is great on the leash, though she can be a little skittish at times and may dig her heels in once or twice during a walk as she takes in her surroundings.

Esther is doing well understanding routine and structure, and her forever family will need to continue working with her to reinforce and advance the progress she's been making.

Esther has done well in her crate during the day. She may whimper for the first few minutes but settles quickly. When she has the option to roam the living room, she often chooses to hang out in her crate on her own, showing that she views it as a safe and cozy space.

She loves being close to her foster family and is happiest when curled up nearby after a fun walk or play session. Esther is a sweet, sensitive, and affectionate pup who thrives in a calm environment.

Esther is looking for a low-key family that can offer both relaxed downtime and some activity. She could do well either as a solo dog or in a home with another calm dog. While she does well with other dogs, she prefers to keep a respectful distance until she feels comfortable.

We would recommend Esther go to a home with older children who can understand and respect her gentle, slightly shy nature.

Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Tested for vector-borne illnesses. Current on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention.

To apply to foster/foster-to-adopt to adopt Esther, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application.
