She can be a bit shy when meeting new people and isn’t a fan of loud noises, so she’ll do best in a calm, patient home where she can feel safe and secure. But once she warms up, her true personality shines—and it’s absolutely worth the wait.<br/><br/>This sweet girl loves affection. Hugs, pets, cuddles—you name it, she’s all in. In fact, she’ll let you know if you stop too soon by jumping up and asking for more love. Esmeralda thrives on connection and will happily soak up all the attention you’re willing to give.<br/><br/>She does have a playful, energetic side, especially when you first get home—she’ll be excited to see you and ready to celebrate! After that initial burst, she settles down nicely and is content just being near her people.<br/><br/>Esmeralda seems to really enjoy the company of other dogs. She gets along great with her friend Oreo and has shown positive, friendly behavior during introductions with other dogs—no signs of aggression. She even tries to make friends with the neighbor’s dog through the fence! With proper introductions, she could do well in a home with a canine companion.<br/><br/>She appears to be more comfortable with women and hasn’t yet been introduced to children, so a home that can go at her pace with new experiences would be ideal.<br/><br/>Esmeralda is a truly special dog who just needs a little time and understanding to feel at home.
