Enigma's Story

Well hello there... my name is Mr. Enigma -- but my friends call me Mr. E 🤎🐾

I'm a 15-year-old tan Chihuahua with a big heart, a goofy little personality, and still plenty of pep left in these tiny old legs. I may be a senior gentleman, but don't let the age fool you -- I still love adventures, cuddles, car rides, and being close to my people as much as possible. 💕Life didn't always start out kind for me. In my younger years, I lived in a very abusive and neglectful home where I wasn't treated the way any dog deserves to be treated. Because of that, my posture is a little different after being injured when I was thrown against a wall. But even after everything I went through, I still chose love. I still trust. I still wag my tail and soak up affection every chance I get. 🥺Thankfully, a wonderful animal-loving woman rescued me from that life and gave me years of safety, love, and happiness. She adored me deeply and only made the heartbreaking decision to rehome me because she's getting older herself and is facing surgeries that will make caring for me difficult. She loves me enough to want the very best for me, even though letting me go hurts. 🤍

I'm house trained, crate trained, and a very well-mannered little gentleman around the home. I get along wonderfully with cats and other dogs of all sizes, and I'm especially good with the elderly. Calm companionship is kind of my specialty. 🐶✨I can do okay with calmer children too, but because of my old injuries and my age, the shelter recommends supervision around younger kiddos under 12. I would never intentionally hurt anyone -- I just need people who understand that older dogs can be a little more delicate sometimes. 💛 One of my favorite things in the whole world is a good car ride. I love tagging along with my humans wherever life takes us. If you're going somewhere, I'd very much like to come too. 🚗🐾 Now, I should be honest about one thing... I am NOT a fan of needles or nail trims. 😅 Those things make me nervous, so I do best with a muzzle during those situations to help everyone stay safe and stress-free. At the end of the day, I'm just a sweet old man who wants a soft place to land, gentle hands to love me, and a family to spend my golden years with. I've been through a lot in my life, but I still believe the best chapter could be ahead of me. 🤎✨📞 You can also call the shelter at 479-394-5682 to find out more about me.
****************
All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
