Emmy's Story

LOOKING FOR LOVE: Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 35 lbs.

Hi there, I'm Emmy! I came to Mostly Mutts when I found myself in need of a new home and family to love. I'm so grateful that Mostly Mutts was able to take me in and I am happy to be soaking up all the love from the volunteers. Now I'm ready to find a wonderful home of my own. Perhaps with you?

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I love walking alongside and playing in the pen with my dog friends at Mostly Mutts, where I really take their lead and come out of my shell. I like the older, large male dog in my foster home, but he doesn't want to play with me and I really need a dog companion. My trainer thinks I would highly benefit from having a friendly, confident dog in my home to help me come out of my shell, so if you have a dog like this at home, let's meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven't met kids yet at Mostly Mutts. On a daytrip, I did well with the 15-year-old, but growled when the younger kids approached me. Older kids 15+ who understand that I am learning to trust would be best, so let's meet.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My trainer says I am so sweet and loving. I am a bit shy at first, but once I know I can trust you, I'll shower you with love and affection. My whole body wags when my favorite people get down on the ground with me. I am already figuring out that toys can be fun and even show a few zoomies when I'm with my favorite people. I got to help in the shelter office a few times and I enjoyed playing with the toys there and even started seeking out more attention each time—do you need an office dog? The bath was pretty scary for me, but I knew my trainer was there to support me so I tried to be very brave. I am hopeful for what the future holds with a patient and loving family. Could it be you? / Energy level: 3-5, which may increase as I become more comfortable.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit' command, I am working on my confidence walking on a leash—it helps me to take a certain route that I am familiar with—and I look forward to learning more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / I am doing well in my little room at Mostly Mutts, but I have been hesitant to come out, as I am working on some threshold challenges, but treats and my new dog friend are helping me to make strides. / I'm having accidents on the shelter schedule, improving a bit on doing #1 outside. On a recent daytrip, I had a #2 accident in the house, but did #1 outside. Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I like it when my people get down on the floor with me. I also like belly rubs, giving kisses and running zoomies once I feel safe. I enjoy car rides and exploring some quieter places, especially if I have a dog friend along. I am learning that soft toys and tennis balls can be fun. I know we'll discover lots more things we enjoy doing together! / I don't like spending time outside so a fenced yard would be a good safe space to spend time together. I also don't like people to go too quickly with me or that scary bath sprayer and like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I am taking an inexpensive stress/anxiety medication to help with some mild anxiety that I'm experiencing. Hopefully I will no longer need it once I've settled into my new home.

I am looking for a calm and patient family to love me furever! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I'm located in Kennesaw, Ga.
