Emmy's Story

THIS IS A COURTESY POST – EMMY IS NOT WITH MID-ATLANTIC JACK RESCUE! PLEASE CONTACT OWNER DIRECTLY

Meet Emmy, 9 month old Jack Russell mix (DOB 11/22/24). She is currently located in Reading PA area. Please contact her owner Amber at amberdakin86@gmail.com

Emmy weighs 38lbs. Her birthday is 11/22/2024. She is updated on vaccines, chipped and spayed. Her physical health is great - no issues with that.

She is food motivated/easy to train. She walks well on a leash and is not reactive to people running, walking or riding bikes by us. She's a silly goofball and is a HUGE snuggle bug. She is eager to please and most of all really likes to be with her person. She knows a couple basic commands like sit, down, and I have been working with her on "leave it" that she has been doing pretty well with. She responds well to your tone of voice as well if that makes sense. She can jump baby gates in the home, but she has even learned her boundaries to not do that. I can't even remember when she jumped a gate last. She is a quick learner.

She does have separation anxiety, but in the short time I have had with her she has gotten better with it. She is also doing better with crate training. In the beginning she was afraid of it and would freak out being inside of it, but after a slow gradual positive process she now walks in fine on her own and can be in it (she has no fear of it anymore) - I'd say for short/limited times though just due to her anxiety. She is wary of some strangers, but she is never mean or aggressive - just loud until gets to know you. I have noticed it's more towards male figures or if you wear sunglasses. I have older kids that she adores and she has been around younger kids with the previous owner.

She is well socialized as she has been going to doggy daycare. She loves it there (both dogs and staff) and runs and plays with the other dogs really well. However, as I mentioned, she prefers being the only dog at home. She has not been tried with a male dog, but I'm not sure if it would make a difference to her or not. The one that surrendered her that I took her in from had a female dog as well that she went after the same way as mine after a certain time period.
