Emmett's Story

Emmett
Male
Breed: Mixed
DOB: 4/14/25
Weight: 43 lbs.

Emmett recently came to a foster home in the Buffalo area from a shelter in West Virginia. He's about one year old, weighing 43 pounds.
Emmett has a wonderful personality. He is gentle and inquisitive. He is standoffish at first but he will come inspect you and request pets on his own terms, which is usually if the human is seated. His foster family is encouraging socialization by giving Emmett treats while the humans are standing to build a positive association.
Emmett's been walking well on a leash. He lets us put his collars on and take them off without a fuss. He loves playing with his foster dog siblings (larger male dogs). Emmett is not a bold adventurer. But, he is curious about his environment. He'll carefully sniff and explore independently. He usually looks to the other dogs for what to do. He follows them and picks up on patterns. Within just a few days his foster family was able to teach Emmett to go in his crate on command. Emmett would do well in a home with another (well trained) dog to set a good example for him. He's very observant and picks up patterns quickly.

If you're interested in adopting Emmett, you can apply to adopt on our website awesomepawsrescue.org
If you're preapproved to adopt, just send us a message on Facebook to set up a meet and greet!
