Emmett's Story

I bet you've never met a dog that knows as many commands as I do! Hi I’m Emmett. I’m a young, big and handsome guy with big potential and big love in my heart. I enjoy running, jumping, playing, and exploring. I recently returned from Pups for Paroles where I learned a bunch of good stuff for my new home with you. I now know the following commands: Sit, Down, Wait, Stay and I will Come to you when called. I also enjoy other dogs so if you have a dog, please bring him/her to meet me - ok?

I did mention that I'm big, right? I am, but there are so many positives to adopting a big dog like me. We make great exercise buddies, we can make you feel very safe on a walk or in the home, we are usually gentle and affectionate dogs, we have larger personalities so that means more fun, and we are loyal, more tolerant and easy to train. We have more patience, too; and we don't have that silly Napoleon Complex that smaller dogs may have. Sometimes you'll see that a big dog seems more like a human, too - ever notice that for yourself? That's why we make the best of friends!

Did you know it is so much harder if you are a big dog to get adopted out from a shelter? Not because we aren't loving and wonderful and great all around pups. It's because some people's living arrangements aren't always good for large dogs. So it means longer shelter stays for us and more stress and greater loneliness. If you can adopt a larger dog, please do. All of us would be so grateful! The wait is endless is seems.

I am a sweet and affectionate companion, and I would love to go on walks and learn more new tricks to show off. One thing everyone notices about me is how well I jump so I would love a large yard with high fences where I can run around and play safely.

My friends here think I'm pretty perfect. And they keep telling me everything is gonna be ok, that my family will find me. But nobody wants to meet me, so how will I get a home? Why in the world don't you want to get to know me? I've got love and joy and sweetness written all over me. I try so hard to be what you want in a dog, but you just don't see me.

Please, please give a big dog like myself a chance. We have twice the love and devotion in our big hearts than all the smaller dogs combined. I sure wish we can meet so we can fall in love.

Forever yours,
Emmett xoxoox
