Great Plains SPCA
Our Mission
Great Plains SPCA is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in Kansas City, serving nearly 6,000 pets annually through adoption, education, and community outreach programs. As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our lifesaving services for animals can only be provided because of your generosity and commitment to our mission. Great Plains SPCA exists solely because of our caring Kansas City community and gracious donors.
Adoption Policy
Effective 3/17/20, to follow the social distancing practice that has been recommended in regards to COVID-19, we will be facilitating pet adoptions by appointment only. All walk-in traffic for the Pet Adoption Center is suspended at this time. Our expert matchmakers are still ready to find you the perfect furry family member, simply by appointment for the time being.
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please call (913) 808-3335 or email adoptions@greatplainsspca.org.
Basic Adoption Requirements:
- Adopter must be 18 years of age or older.
- For the safety and health of our animals, we do not ship pets.
- Pet adoption fees range from $60 to $350. Our adoption fees help to offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the thousands of animals needing our help. We do our best to keep our adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for animals available for adoption until we can place them in a loving home. The adoption fee for each animal varies and is dependent on many factors including: age, size, behavior, medical condition, and public demand.
