Emilio's Story

About Emilio
Emilio is a 2 year old hound mix who brings together the best traits of his breed, intelligence, affection, and a love of fun. Hounds are often curious and people oriented, and Emilio is no exception. He came to the shelter when his owner could no longer care for him, and since arriving, he’s shown just how special he is.
Emilio is incredibly sweet, cuddly, and playful. He’s a smart boy who already knows many commands and enjoys engaging with his people. While he has a gentle heart, he can feel a bit nervous when meeting new people and in unfamiliar situations, especially since he hasn’t had much exposure to the wider world yet.

Training & Support
Because Emilio is still building confidence, he would benefit from positive, reward-based training that helps him feel safe and supported. He can be fearful of strange noises and unexpected things on walks, and he may react to larger dogs out of fear, though he does well with small quiet dogs. Gentle, force-free training will help him gain confidence, improve his leash manners, and learn that new experiences aren’t so scary.

Ideal Home
Emilio would thrive in a patient, loving home that understands he may need some time to settle in. A calmer environment with consistent routines would suit him well. He’d do best with someone willing to continue his training and confidence-building, and who can manage dog introductions carefully. With compassion, structure, and a little extra reassurance, Emilio will shine as a loyal, affectionate, and fun-loving companion.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ready to Apply?

If you would like to meet Emilio, please download an application from our website at:

vancouver.ca/adoption-form

Then, email your complete application to: animal.shelter@vancouver.ca

If your application is approved, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes.
Children: 12+
Cats: No
Dogs: Small dogs
Training Needs: Confidence building
Adoption Fee: $391

If you live in the City of Vancouver, you will also need to purchase a dog licence.

For more information on our adoption process, go to vancouver.ca/adopt
