Elysia's Story
Meet Elysia!

Elysia is a beautiful 1-year-old female Mini Australian Shepherd, weighing in at 31 pounds, with a wonderful balance of playful energy and sweet affection. She's the kind of dog who loves to explore the world with you and then happily curl up on the couch when it's time to relax.

True to her Aussie roots, Elysia is smart, curious, and very aware of her surroundings. She enjoys playtime, being silly, and showing off her fun personality, but she also loves giving kisses and settling in close to her people. She would thrive with a family who enjoys being active and spending time outdoors, whether that's walks, adventures, or playtime together.

On leash, Elysia does well overall and may tug a bit when she's excited or interested in something new, something that will continue to improve with consistency and practice. She's friendly and social when meeting other dogs and enjoys canine companionship.

Elysia is mostly housetrained and will do best with a structured routine of regular walks and outings to help her continue building good habits.

When it comes to cats, Elysia is still learning boundaries. Like many young herding breeds, she can be curious and may show interest or attempt playful chasing, so a home that can provide guidance, management, and slow introductions would be ideal. She may do well with a dog savvy cat.

Elysia is a loving, fun, and engaging companion who would make a fantastic adventure buddy for the right home, especially one that appreciates the intelligence, curiosity, and heart that make Aussies so special. She is being fostered in Staten Island and her adoption fee is $475.

"To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal."
