Elsa Ask to Meet!! In Foster!!'s Story

Please email adoptions@friendshipapl.org to set up a meet! She’s currently in a foster home and not at the shelter.

Elsa, Female, 7 years old, 56 pounds

Meet Elsa!
This sweet 7 year old pittie gal is such a loving, gentle, affectionate soul. She is house trained, crate trained, and ever so loving! Elsa does the cutest thing- and collects stuffies and makes a pile with them. Ever so gently and never destroys them! She is calm, and low key and would be perfect for someone looking for an easy going dog!

From foster mom:
“Of my 15 foster dogs, Elsa was the most severely neglected. Starting January 28, 2026, our first 4 weeks focused on physical condition and simply gaining weight. Fast forward to the present, and Elsa has busted out of her cocoon. She still has scars, but she doesn’t see them.

Of all my foster dogs, she surprised me the most in her ability to trust me and others very quickly. She has a calm demeanor and is very affectionate. She doesn’t mind having her ears cleaned, her teeth looked at, or her paws inspected; she’s been an excellent patient for the shelter’s veterinary staff. She had a grooming session, and the staff was extremely complimentary of her behavior. She’s friendly and loves meeting new people. She’s learned to love getting in the car and going to the park for walks. She isn’t overactive, and her calm demeanor allows for walks at an easy pace while being very respectful on the leash. As much as she enjoys her walks, she’s also a home-body, and she enjoys her quiet time in the house or in the back yard, and likes to sleep in most every morning. She’s smart and cooperative which allowed her to learn basic commands very quickly. She is house trained and crate trained, but she doesn't need to be crated when she's left alone. She likes using the crate as her “little apartment” and “decorates” it with her toys. She has shown no signs of resource guarding, and on less than cooperative weather days, she enjoys a game of following someone who walks away with her toys, playing with the toys, and then returning her toys back to the crate. She also has a fetish for stealing shoes or boots, placing them into her crate, and treating them as “added decor.” She enjoys being a lap dog when the opportunity arises, and likes to cuddle up with soft blankets. Of all my foster dogs, she has proved to be the most resilient and most unique by far. She will be a very good companion for a lucky adopter.“

No appointment is necessary to adopt. Adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis, by visiting the shelter. Applications are not accepted in advance, but will be filled out upon adoption.

If you have another dog and/or children in your family and are interested in adopting a FAPL dog, please bring them with you for a meet and greet. Please bring a copy of lease agreement if you rent home/apartment.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are dewormed, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Dogs 7 months and older are heartworm tested.

Upon visiting FAPL, if you don’t see a particular dog you are looking for that is on the website, please ask at the front desk.
