Elsa's Story

Hi, I’m Elsa — your soon-to-be favorite couch companion, walking buddy, and full-time sweetheart.

Let me tell you a little about myself! I’m a smart, cuddly, and playful girl who’s currently living in a foster home, patiently waiting for my forever family. If you’re someone who loves going on daily walks (1-2 miles twice a day is just right for me!) and then snuggling up on the couch afterwards — we might just be meant for each other.

I love people. Seriously. I’ll melt into your lap if you let me. I’m especially fond of belly rubs, ear scratches, and pretty much any kind of affection. I’m also a big fan of treats — especially those Stella & Chewy Chicken Weenies (yum!).

While I tolerate my younger, high-energy foster brother, I’d really prefer a more submissive male companion closer to my age. I also like my food bowl all to myself, so a peaceful, solo mealtime is best. I walk nicely on a leash, and while I’m not wild about storms or fireworks (I might bark or howl a bit), I’m generally a pretty quiet girl. I'm house-trained, don’t chew things up, and I’m happy hanging out inside while you're out running errands. I don’t mind car rides, and I can get in all by myself — unless we’re talking about a monster truck, of course.

Grooming isn’t my favorite, but I’ll tolerate it if you hold my collar and talk nicely to me (bonus points for post-brush snuggles). I’m respectful of fences, not a digger or jumper, and I don’t counter surf — though I am a bit of a messy water drinker, just keeping it real.

I really shine in a calm, loving home where I can relax, be adored, and go on regular adventures with my human. If you’re home a lot and looking for a loyal, affectionate, goofy companion, I just might be the pyrfect match for you.

Let’s meet soon. I’ve got a warm heart and a soft spot on the couch just waiting for you.
– Love, Elsa

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta's Adoption Policy
Great Pyrenees are the southeasts best kept secret. We are a magnificent and majestic breed that is one of the best dogs a family can own - we really are. We are gentle giants loved by all because we combine two characteristics that are hard to beat. First, we are terrific family pets. We are lovable and gentle with children - we love them even when they treat us like massive fluff balls! Second, and where we differ from most house pets, we are protectors. I tend to be the witty observer but my big brother Jenkins is a typical Great Pyrenees and he is amazing as he patrols our property watching for anything unusual. He takes his job very seriously. Great Pyrenees were bred as working dogs and our "job" in the home is to protect our "family". We have regular adoption days - usually every other Saturday from 11am until 1 pm at the Perimeter Petsmart in Atlanta, GA visit our website to see current adoption days

Our Mission
Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neuter...
